Here's the methodology that I went through to get the log, and the log
is attached:
Ran update on July 19th 4PM CST
Booted without any options, which means I took out 'nomodeset' 'xforcevesa' and
'i8042.nopnp' (needed for touchpad to function correctly)

alright, here is a report of everything that I can access from the live
Maverick Alpha 2 image:
boot options:
-expert mode
-nomodeset
try w/o installing
ESC out of boot splash, but I can't see any obvious errors during boot
low graphics mode warning

I tried booting the Maverick Alpha 2 image off USB and got it to show the "low
graphics mode" error, but it still fails to start X even in low graphics mode.
I opened up the X.org log and at the end of the log it says:
