It shouldn't be a nvidia issue, as it also affects my installation with
an Intel (i915) video card.

Title:
Application windows can sometimes fail
A friend of mine has the same problem with an Acer M460, which has a
type 12 partition (recovery) as /dev/sda1, which is deemed to be
"Windows Vista (loader)" by os-prober; instead, Windows's loader is in
/dev/sda2, which os-prober names "Windows Vista recovery". It should be
the opposite.

pdftopdf consumes too much RAM

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: cups
pdftopdf reaches 2GB (!) memory consumption when I try to print pdf
documents with option 'multiple pages per sheet' enabled. It eventually
succeeds, but swapping takes minutes, slowing any application down, and
will fail on computers with less RAM.
I can confirm this looks fixed in one of the latest upgrades.

This bug hasn't been solved in Hardy. We could forget about the splash

Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: acpi-support
In Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon, using acpi-support 0.103
after installing uswsusp, hibernation ceases to work (the screen flashes and
the screensaver starts, that's all), unless you call s2disk manually.
The bug is in /etc/acpi/hibernate.sh, l
