A friend of mine has the same problem with an Acer M460, which has a type 12 partition (recovery) as /dev/sda1, which is deemed to be "Windows Vista (loader)" by os-prober; instead, Windows's loader is in /dev/sda2, which os-prober names "Windows Vista recovery". It should be the opposite.
Moreover, it is more serious than expected: if, after installing Ubuntu and rebooting, the user choses "Windows Vista (loader)" (i.e. /dev/sda1), then the Acer recovery tool automatically starts and for some unintelligible reason it deletes Ubuntu's main partition (!). I think this is a bug in Acer's recovery tool, however. -- grub entry added for "Compaq diagnostics" partition https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/48068 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is a direct subscriber. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
