Unfortunately, I don't have access to an Ubuntu machine now that is

Changing timeout seems to make it work better. It still drops tweets though.

OK, I tried it out. I went to ~/.local/share/desktop-couch/ and found

I changed xorg.conf as suggested. On restarting X I got a message saying
Gnome Keyboard setting varied from X keyboard settings, which one to
use. I chose X. I then got about 5 of the same error messages copied below:
