I am seeing the same thing also on an intel G31 chipset machine the
board is an ASRock G31M-GS R2.0 with a core2 duo 6600 processor and 4
gigs of ram it is the same for both 32bit and 64bit installs

I have just put 10.10 beta on a spare PATA drive in my INTEL SE7505VB2
based machine which runs as my server in 10.04 with 2 SATA and 1 PATA in
software raid. All drives are OK 10.04 but the ones on the sata_sil
3112A controller are not found in 10.10 beta initially or after

Did an install of 10.10 beta yesterday and it only finds my PATA
drives.
My system is based on an inte SE7505VB2 board with a sata_sil
controller.

Did updates and allowed it to update the three UDEV packages and the
NON-MOUNTING behavior returned so I downgraded just the main package
using dpkg -i udev_151-5_i386.deb and normal mounting behavior returned
immediately so I closed the system down and re-booted and tested the
mounting behavior wi
I have downloaded ubuntu-10.04-beta1-alternate-i386.iso and extracted the
following udev packages
libgudev-1.0-0_151-5_i386.deb, libudev0_151-5_i386.deb, udev_151-5_i386.deb and
used dpkg -i to downgrade and on reboot the system behaves normally i.e CD's
and DVD's mount and unmount correctly.

Just booted into 10.04 Beta1 and created a boot-able usb stick to test
if the problem existed in Beta1.
Booted from the usb stick and all is fine CD's show on the desktop and
open automatically displaying their contents as expected and they eject
and re-mount OK.
So the problem has come as an upd

Since the updates of yesterday the behavior has changed in that nothing
put in the Pioneer DVR-112 now mounts when booted with either -16 or -17
kernel all that happens is you see a solid activity light as the disk
spins up then a brief pause before a flashing activity light and when
this stops ins
I have the same problem and I am using a fully updated Lucid i386
install the drive in my machine is a Pioneer DVR-112.
The first time after boot you put any media in the drive it is seen and
is shown on the desktop and on ejecting the tray goes back in again the

OK in live mode on my AMD K6 III (i586) hardware.
When I have finished testing the live aspects (see if my usb wireless
adapter an edimax EW-7318Ug is recognized and will work) I will install
it on the hardware.

I have had the same message displayed for a system using an AMD K6 III
(i586) running at 450Mhz on an ASUS P5A motherboard.
Daily build of 08/08/08 had the same problem.
The system is running a fully updated 8.04 at present and has no problem
with any past or current kernel for 8.04

Having looked at a previous screen shot the problem I am seeing is
probably different to what was originally reported and may need to be
reported as a separate bug report.
I will wait a day or so and check this bug regularly before doing so.
