Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.22-14-sparc64
After experiencing random hangs with Gutsy on several Sun Blade 150's
(which require ide dma to be turned off for stability), it appears that
the Gutsy kernel, on sparc64 at least, is not recognizing the
"ide=nodma" parameter
Yes, I would suspect it is either a kernel issue or in the mount/umount
tools.
In the mean time, since I believe your spin-down method works as well as
unmount-mount-unmount and also leaves the drive spun down, I have

Sorry, I think I didn't explain my thought clearly. I think the only
time there is missing data is if the drive is unmounted and unplugged
without either doing the head parking OR doing the unmount-remount-

work is just unmou
Apparently, either using your method (syncing and stopping the drive),
or doing what I did (unmounting-remounting-unmounting) causes the drive
to be properly sync'd, whereas just unmounting or syncing and unmounting
does not.
In any case, there seems to be a bug in the driver where this particular

Not updating stable is a tough call. I think it makes sense for system-
wide things, but in general an application like planner can't break
anything else on a stable system. In any case, that's what backports is
for, so people who need the new features can get them at their own risk.

This bug applies to dapper, I haven't tested edgy.
On this laptop (Dell Inspiron 9400), suspend to ram and resume appears
to work, but I noticed that the idle power is much higher upon resume
than before suspending (around 25% h

"Is this still an issue with planner 0.14-10 ?"
I would like to try it, but planner is still at version 0.13 in the
dapper repository. Would it be possible to update planner in the dapper
repository to 0.14? If not, are there packages in another location?
Thanks
