I think I may have found a clue. I've been trying to workaround this
issue. It seems to have something to do with the fonts. I opened
Bibletime, went into the settings and changed it to a custom font for
English language. Any choice made in the column for "Font style" doesn't
stay after applying, c

I can confirm that neither Ubuntu 9.10 nor OpenOffice.org 3.1 recognize
the Arial Narrow font family properly. OpenOffice.org provides a way to
install fonts through spadmin, which are not available to the system.
After realizing that Arial Narrow was not usable in my Ubuntu system, I

I have the same bug. After reading the bug description above, I made
soft links at all the places mentioned in the post, and now cenon starts
without giving me an error message.

The latest release (glabels 2.2.5) fixes this bug. I found a getdeb link
on the glabels website. You have to uninstall the current version from
Ubuntu (glabels 2.2.3) and install the glabels-data package first, then
the glabels package. These are both available on the same page:
http://www.getdeb.
I have this same bug. It makes glabels practically useless. For anyone
who only needs text, boxes, lines and circles, you can zoom out and find
your object on the far left. Just drag it back onto the label, then zoom
back in to position it. This doesn't work for images, although it works
for boxes,
'nohpet' also works for me. Thanks again.

Stefan, as wribeiro says, this bug only affects me while on battery
power, not when plugged in. Boot option 'idle=poll' works for me. Now my
system doesn't hang while booting on battery power. I have a Presario
F750US laptop. Thanks for your help.

My bug report #290129 was marked as a duplicate of this bug. I can
confirm that it is the same, and booting with "acpi=off" or "acpi=noirq"
makes the system boot without halting. I didn't try any other boot
options. I updated to Jaunty recently, and the bug is gone, meaning that

After much tinkering around with updating packages (using update-

driver and changed to the generic kernel, instead of using the realtime
kernel, which fixed the
I just recently re-installed Ubuntu Studio 8.04 on a computer that I
forgot my administrator password for. I then immediately did a
distribution upgrade to 8.10, and another to 9.04 (Jaunty Beta), and I
now have this bug. The realtime kernel is installed, it is 32 bit, and
it didn't occur on 8.04,

Adding 'acpi=noirq' made no change on my system, neither with the

IanW,
The above information was taken from the running environment of the
Release Candidate LiveCD. Are you sure you don't want to see this
information from my current install? It is still causing problems for
me, even with the latest updates. There is a difference, in fact. As
