I was suffering from exactly the same problem. Identical output
diagnostics. I have a different model of the hp slimline. s5360f. I
had a fresh install of karmic koala. My workaround was to install the
proprietary ATI/AMD FGLRX Video drive. My best guess why this worked is

I uploaded the syslog file, but there is no /var/log/partman file.
I booted from the hardy live cd, picked the install option from the menu, and
then it never gave me the gui for the install and instead just booted me into
the live hardy system. There was a crash report option, and I did my bes
