I haven't seen this issue since I filed this report, and I have no idea
how to reproduce it, so it may be best to close this. If I spot the
issue again, I'll perhaps have a look at the source code, and see if I
have any suggestions of what it could be.

xclock seems fine, and it is about half-a-second faster than the World
Clock widget. Now the problem with xclock seems to have stopped. I'll

I have the same problem with what looks like a very similar chip, I
would guess it's probably related:

Basically I get distortion on all volumes because PCM is always set to
around 100% by ALSA
Also if I try to change the port number to 1863 the Apply button is
still greyed out, if I change another setting to get the Apply button to
enable and set the port number it just goes back to 0 again next time I
look at that account in the Accounts Manager.

My problem turned out to be similar, it was the cable which must've not
been up to spec. I ended up buying a much higher quality cable which
got rid of the noise problem and let me enjoy 1680x1050 for a while,
until for some reason that resolution just decided to stop working :\ .

Got the same problem, some more strange behaviour that might help to

The glitch only occurs when I enable Compiz through System, Preferences,
Appearance. Not when I enable Compiz via the Compiz Fusion Icon.
