I thought I'd add some info to this report. I'm seeing similar issues
after doing a fresh install of 11.10 onto a Samsung NC10. This netbook
does not use an ATI card however. It uses the i915 driver so it's an
Intel integrated video card.
Not so sure this bug relates to ATI video.

Ah right - get it now. It seems if you delete all of your searches, you
get a 'cache' of old search results stuck next to the remaining
'placeholder' magnifying glass. It makes it look like the search hasn't
been deleted as such (although it has).

Feisty is fine, as is edgy and dapper. I think that gutsy's default is
to run the live cd with compositing enabled isn't it? If so, I think
that's most likely the problem in this case. I'm surprised that more
people don't have issues.

It wasn't *really* a bug with madwifi as such ;-) Perhaps more the way
that network manager used madwifi (although it could be argued that
madwifi should work differently.)

This isn't really a bug in the package, rather a mishap in updating.
There isn't really a fix that can be applied to linux-source-2.6.22 that
can solve this. Unfortunately it relies on the restricted drivers and
the kernel being present together at the time the kernel upgrades.

timeout. Crossed fingers, so far it seems to be OK (although I haven't
had much time to test for long). Do you still want to investigate

Using network manager and the madwifi drivers (atheros chipset) cause
the user to be disconnected from the access point at regular intervals.
This bug seems to be knocking around in lots of incarnations and the
problem seems to be this:
This bug looks like a combination of both madwifi and network-manager
with neither being fully at fault!
