Problem:
When booting the Gutsy beta Live CD in default mode, graphics fail when using
an Nvidia Geforce4 440 Go on my Higrade laptop computer. Instead of seeing the
expected screens, the screen presented is black with white horizontal 'flecks'
across it. There are no error messages. After waiting for 10 minutes there is
no change.
Reproduction:
On a laptop featuring the Nvidia Geforce4 440 Go mobile graphics chip, using
the Gutsy beta Live CD, select the install or start Ubuntu menu. Wait. You
should have the problem above.
Solution:
When booting with the live CD, select the safe graphics mode option.
