Update
Since I have updated Ubuntu from its raw 7.10 status I am no longer able to get
Ctrl D to work. Since Windows XP works and there is no point continuing with
this exercise until somebody comes up with a fix. I cannot get a NVidia 8800gt
to work either so was using a 7600 for this exercis
Running on a abit IP35 with PATA dvd drive and Samsung hd501lj SATA hard
drive on SATA port 2 I need the workaround irqpoll for the live CD. I
loaded a new 7.10 32bit install with the alternate cd which partitioned
and populated ok but produces this issue on cold boot. Ctrl D allows
