I've been running Ubuntu + mythtv on the box I'm currently using for > 2
years. The ONLY time this has happened to me is when playing the Region
4 (Australia) Scrubs Season 5 dvds. They seem to have a lot of errors.

Up until Hoary alsa-tools had ac3dec. It now (Intrepid forward) does
not. Note that it DOES still have the man pages and TODO/README files,
just not the binary!
My guess is a packaging error as it's not a commonly used tool.
