This is even worse than I thought. For example, create a small solver problem in a new gnumeric file. Check that it works. Now save the file and re-open in gnumeric. I can replicate this bug on edgy. The native resolution for my laptop screen is 1400x1050. The native resolution of the lcd panel connected to the laptop docking station is 1280x1024. Typically I use the laptop with the lcd panel (screen closed). Once I suspend the laptop and then wake it back up
