I'm getting the same problem with the Blue Submarine Theme since the
upgrade to Ubuntu MATE 21.04. All indicators (except network) are nearly
unusable with Blue & Green Submarine because they get undesired
scrollbars while at the same time the view keeps jumping back to the top

So, first of all: Sorry for (kinda) 'reopening' this thread after such a long
time.
Today I noticed something very strange. One of my (16) CPU cores was pinned at
100%. After a bit of googling I stumbled upon this thread and read about people
pointing towards USB.
So what I did was unplugging ev
UPDATE: After starting Windows and opening Diskmanagement, obviously the
Ubuntu setup didn't change any of the partitions. I created a partition
in Windows and booted into the Ubuntu setup again. As I'm writing this I
got a prompt saying that the installation has finished so everything

511 GB to 470 GB (-40960MB), next step was to chose the location - I chose
Vienna and clicked next, then I went back to change it to my home town and
after clicking next
I use:
sudo echo "1" > /sys/bus/pci/devices/\:02\:00.0/remove
To remove only the affected PCIe card (mine is a PCIe USB 3.1 controller
card), and
echo "1" > /sys/bus/pci/rescan
To get it back online.
Though it only gets it back temporarily until the event is fired again.

worked fine during some reboots. I now tried mainline v4.16.6 and
v4.17-rc3, both did not fix the issue neither.

The system was only recently installed, so there was no other version of

hands on this system again and update/upgrade installed a new kernel

2. Install the new distro with either "sudo apt dist-upgrade" or

3. I had one error in the first run of do-release-upgrade, I just re-ran it and

After a little experimenting with different android developer settings I
can no longer reproduce this issue. I think the connection loop was
because of an Android usb issue and not an ubuntu kernel problem.

Ok a new user triggers no oops messages and can start without problems.
After I renamed my .config directory I can also login with my old
account.
However with this user the oops messages are still triggered when I
login.
Something in my (kde5) config must trigger this oops message..

Hm very strange I can boot in a live session with the daily iso of
kubuntu from today without a problem. However I see also no oops
messages in dmesg...

I have tested the 3.18 kernel from the repo and the problem remains. The
oops messages are also the same. Since kde has worked with 3.18 in the
past this seems very odd.
I have tried to reset the settings in kde and see if that helps, but no
luck with that.
It could be that the kernel oops are on

enter my password the display is blank for a second and then does
kubuntu load forever the desktop environment.
