Automagic support is being worked on, but here are my two cents: the
Automagic and update-grub framework is really inflexible. I mean, you
can't properly edit/remove an automagic entry or else a warning message
with an ackward default action will pop up, confusing most new users.

Run it as a simple user and then kgrubeditor will ask for the password
if any action requires root privileges.

As I see it, since we are stuck with this really "smart" framework,
Automagic should not be touched at all...Only reserved as is. This is
really frustrati

kernels at all? Because any interaction with these would cause "conflict
errors".

This is the expected behaviour. Check the tooltip which pops up when
trying to do this action. You'll see that moving out of/in the AutoMagic
list of entries is not allowed so as to prevent your system from
breaking when you install a new kernel in the future.

would look like with colors.

Yes, indeed. KGRUBEditor is available via the KDE4 PPA repository and
this page contains info on how to use this repository.
However the package is not up-to-date (version 0.5 is on this
repository) so you'll have to compile from source unfortunately in order
to use version 0.7 :-(

Strange. I would say it was a coincidence because KGRUBEditor uses the
same manner of reading and writing to GRUB's configuration files as
QGRUBEditor.
However, you could have used the backup file. KGRUBEditor always creates
one before accessing one file to avoid such occasions.
