Yes, you do need to run that command.
If you look in the Applications menu you should find a terminal menu
item. Click on it and you will be shown a terminal - a screen into
which you can enter commands. Run that command. You can cut and paste
if you like.
sudo dpkg --configure -a
fix the problem. There is a way to fix the problem from a graphical
interface, but I am not able to help you with that presently.

Sitsofe, you are correct.
Although I cannot decipher exactly that bug 116996 is really about,
changing my fstab to use UUIDs fixed the problem. If the underlying
issue is indeed fixed by the next kernel release, this bug can be
closed. Since my hardware seems to be affected, I will subscribe to

When I boot linux-image-2.6.20-16-generic, only my root filesystem hard
disk gets mounted. The superblock of my other hard drive is not
detected. This only happens when I boot the linux-
image-2.6.20-16-generic kernel. Boo
I am experiencing this. I cannot load mail.yahoo.ca without
segfaulting.
I can, however, create a new user, log into that account and
successfully browse that page.
Deleting my personal data and removing plugins and extensions does not
solve the problem for my original user.
