This feature has been implemented in the new (v78) Select Messages
column; unchecking it will permanently prevent any auto selection in the
folder. It is pretty much this patch, except the reviewers in Bug
1017904 didn't not get it. Note that using ctrl-click to unselect will
continue to NOT work,

in the course of updating MoreLayouts, this (and some other layout bugs) has
been fixed there:

the solution is quite simple; a 0 setTimeout on the reloadMessage() call

I should think we need to understand the use case rather than simply
accept the proposed implementation at face value. Users want to signify
for a message not to be auto selected on threadpane context/cycler
column actions that remove a previous message. A global pref or even
folder property is cer
Also, I think a selection column should be implemented in threadpane for
mouse users, as is normal for very many mail list views. This would mean
something like the excellent Checkbox Column extension

I'm closing this bug for the following reasons:
1) A massive renovation of feeds in Tb was concluded with the release of Tb17.
The codebase is not the same as when the dupe bugs were rampant. (Neither is
usage, to be sure.)
2) There hasn't been a dupe report since Tb17.
This is not to say there

The objective, per the title of the bug, is to handle an erroneous deluge, upon
update. Not to nag a user about a high count feed they've already
approved/subscribed. So while 1000 is a testable number, the final number
could be 5000 or 1. At that edge case, the user can cancel and
unsub

it needs to be cached in case of a cancel, it would break new refreshes if set
prior to full completion.

in fact, 'order received' is misleading. it really means 'offset into the mbx
file', ie 'order added' and a moved/copied message will be 'last' regardless of
date sent or date received.
