I have the same problem, using this Transcend card reader and a Samsung
8GB SD card when it is connected to the USB3 port of a Lenovo X220,
running quantal, and when conencted to a Gigabyte Z77D3H running
oneiric.
WHen the device is connected to USB2 port, everything is fine.

The processor speed of my X220 is, according to /proc/cpuinfo, 800MHz.
That's fin when the machine is idling, but if I run a program which
needs more procssor powr, I would xpect that the clock speed is

I find the UI quite confusing too.
The problem is even worse. If you want to perform the default action for
the notification "updates are available", i.e., install the available
updates, you _must_ click the right buttons in the right order: First
"Select all updates", then "Apply".

I had exactly the same problem, on two machines (running Karmic), both
wth Gnome and KDE,and kdm being the default display manager. Disabling
/etc/init/failsafe-x.conf helped indeed.

be resizable. A larger window might make reading the texts easier or
