I am having the same problems again. I am running ubuntu, kernel 2.6.20-15
I am able to install but when I get ready to boot the system it reboots itself
in the middle of splash screen.
when I tried to get into the command prompt the system halt or reboots.

The 64 bit live cd didn't work. I saw the splash screen and progress bar but
it didn't boot.

Then enter the correct password in the kdesu and press enter. An error
occurs:
