graphics drivers not recognized. All display settings changed and not
correctable.
Rebooted back to the 5.3 kernel and system is back to normal.
May delete the 5.4 kernel until corrected.

Actually, disregard that last comment. I never rebooted after updating
snap using the ppa. I didn't think it was needed, but after a reboot
this morning and running the updated software fresh I have not had a
recurrence of the bug.

I think my suggestion was a red herring. Did some more testing this
afternoon. After removing the option line from/etc/modprobe.d/iwlwifi.conf
and rebooting again, wifi still works. So the "fix" seems to be a simple
reboot.
I suspect that something is messed up on first boot after updating the
ker

"N" and then failing when it tries to enable it, leaving the wireless card
disabled.
Issue the command
sudo lshw -c network
and look for the wireless interface info. I bet that it will say "*-network

driver. That seems OK so far. There is still some weirdness in the Xorg
logs, so hopefully it will help. X takes a very long time to start on
boot for me, it looks like xorg.log.old was from the boot and x
