Re unreliable w/o sshfs:
No, 20.04.1 LTS is quite reliable; so far the only crash has been while
using sshfs; when I'm not using sshfs, it works fine.
Re unbootable:
I don't think it has anything to do with grub; the sshfs crash mucks up the
boot driv
One can specify an alternative path, but it would be nice if the fact
that the tool was relocated to a non-default (or at least not-in-$PATH)
location was documented somewhere…
(Neither its manpage nor the other gdk-pixbuf documentation seems to
mention that.)
