from the board. I can compile the code and upload it without trouble, I can
reset the board without trouble, but when I monitor -and- reset the board -- I
get a crash and dump.

This bug was reported quite some time ago and hasn't had any updates.
Have you ran into this issue with any of the newer Jaunty or Karmic
Alpha kernels I was unable to reproduce the issue here when attempting
to purge an older 2.6.31-2 kernel.
