I just did a fresh install of Kubntu 9.04 (downloaded latest alternate

Installing kubuntu-desktop caused the gnome themes to become a sort of
gnome/kde hybrid.
Some examples are;
-Some bit's of the menu bar are black like the theme, other bit's near icons
are silverish white.
-Words like the time/date and opened programs are covered by a sort

I had update-manager minimized whilst I was doing a forum posting (about
this problem) & the ?random? typing b0rked things rather well...I
rebooted 7 everything came back---but it now looks more like the Fedora
login--so I would gather that something was lost in passing..

Lenovo X61 hangs with flashing caps lock LED.
First, this isn't a proper fix - I'm definitely confirming this. My
setup is vmware 1.0.9 on Kubuntu 9.04 _ 64 bit 2.6.28-13 kernel -
same process as above - downloaded the zip file, applied the vmware-
update patch, and had a messy but successful compile. Then ran into
the pam thing.

Same problem for me, but switching to use AHCI also fixed it. So I'm
happy with Ubuntu once more. I had been enduring just doing a fsck
multiple times a week for a long time, but so far I haven't had to do
that anymore. I hope this continues.
