I suspect the problem is not with FF itself but with the 'Ubuntu Firefox
I'll try the valgrind trace approach - its a bit fiddly as it does not
always crash.

I'm in the same boat. Asus F5N-158, shutdown worked with 8.10 after one
tweak, but restart is stopping at the end. Only the shutdown button
helps. I will try the Jaunty kernel today. If not, is there a
workaround?

that are derived from bouncycastle classes, so it's not possible to
reasonably exclude bouncycastle from main without reverting libitext-

Indeed enabling GNOME Compatibility in cssm fixed the issue. AFAIK there was
no "GNOME Compatibility" option in 8.10 and after upgrade it was not enabled
by default which is the root problem that caused the shortcuts to stop
working.

mkcomposecache is a binary utility, maybe it just seemed inappropriate
to put it into a library?
The code looks pretty antique; it still uses Imake...! The code will
need to be updated to current, given a new makefile, integrated
somewhere (maybe it'd fit better into x11-xserver-utils?) and teste
I'm getting the same behavior. "Session error : the drive can't be
locked (ongoing burning process) (brasero_burn_record burn.c:2524)". I
had a failed burn using Ubuntu CD/DVD Creator, so I closed it and opened
up Brasero. Any other suggestions for debugging help?

I confirm this bug too.
I am running Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10 on a thinkpad. Intel graphics card and
firefox 3.0.8 with mouse gestures redox 2.0.3 extension.
The bug occurs when LEFT clicking on a menu and triggers the first menu
item. That is when i left-click on file menu a new firefox window opens
I do not agree. If we can provide a wider support, why the hell don't we make
it?
It doesn't seem complicated, and if some people need to install python2.5
doesn't have to make hard hack to make it work...
anyway, you're the man on it.

Would you mind trying again from the current daily alternate ISO, and
skipping the step of copying the hd-media kernel & initrd.gz? The remaining
issue sounds like bug #291670 , which is believed to resolved for the case
where usb-creator is used directly on the alternate ISO, with
Mirroring means, or used to mean and should mean, that the two screens
show the same thing. Before, the laptop screen would show only as much
as would fit into the top left corner of the full resolution. This is
good for me because when I unplug the external monitor, the screen has
useful stuff on

Well, I haven't used hardy in some months (current desktop runs
intrepid-amd64), but I whipped up a hardy-i386 chroot install to test,
and among the other output from 'apt-get -s install compiz-kde' I got

I confirm that the bug is fixed in jaunty with wpasupplicant

I'd love to be able to use the trackpad but at this point I am unsure if
there is interference between the plugged mouse and the trackpad.
I have removed (with dpkg -P ) the xserver-xorg-input-* packages
