In my case it was not a bug, thanks to Saïvann I could correct the
problem :
I had the comment "vga=786" in my file /boot/grub/menu.lst
I removed it and there is no more message at boot.
So no report needed for this.

I have the exact same laptop. My system hangs sometimes as well and i
suspected its the nvidia driver. After a fresh install without
installing the driver from restricted driver, I haven't suffered any
freezes yet. However, without the accelerated driver, the graphic is
kind of laggy.

Hardy frpm Edubuntu Gutsy.
A fresh install of the Xubuntu nightly still has this problem.
Steps to reproduce for me:
- download, burn and install the Xubuntu Hardy Alternate 1386 disk
- log in to your new system. install Amaro
This happens to me to, with the 1.9.93-0ubuntu1 version.
The newer version (1.9.95-0ubuntu1~gutsy1) just cannot be installed
because of missing dependencies.

For anyone who want to install and have it work correctly. I was able
to install Kubuntu successfully with Wubi. It works pretty good, but I
was not able to get it to work with any of the other desktops.

I can confirm this bug, however, following the suggestion to modify the
udev rules resulted in a DIFFERENT 3rd networking device.
On my Vaio VGN C240E (intel 3945 wireless), iwconfig displays the following;
