Via the GUI synaptic interface, I selected completely uninstall for the
Package openoffice.org and openoffice.org writer.
After that I installed the packages fresh.
The hope was that this would resolve the problem, it did not. I can not
explain that, that is why I am consulting with you folks, the
BIOS is up-to-date as far as I can tell: one week ago I ran the updater
from the manufacturer's website, I believe. Don't know what else to do,
other than guessing from fragments of meaningful statements in other
bugs.

I've installed Hardy's 2.6.24 kernel and fglrx on my Gutsy system
running on a IBM ThinkPad T43p with ATI Mobility FireGL V3200, the

ubuntu forum very difficult to navigate and perhaps this bug is already known
- I tried to search for this bug and cannot find one listed so I am opening
this one.
Here is my problem :

I am using KDE and the font rendering of open office is very different
from the one in gnome. I am attaching screen shots too.
The fonts are much smoother in gnome vs. kde. I have set the virtual
same settings in gnome and kde.

I don't see a difference in font rendering, they are both antialiased.
The two applications appear to use different fonts though.

I rebuilt the font from wqy-unibit (a GPL font from wenquanyi project)
using mkblfont, but some strange lines appears in the background.

Another idea is to warn the user that he is in the 25..29th mount after
he logs in and offer a read-only, valid check *whenever the user wants
but before the 30th mount*. And, if the check proves the disk to need
r/w to fix something, to provide an option to schedule the check for the
next reboot.
Already tried that -- same thing happens.

Even after enabling compiz on my system (the only thing non-standard
about my install) I still didn't see any messages like what you pasted
so I am not sure if it is related, or what is causing them to appear.
