I've noticed strange problems after upgrading to Feisty from Edgy with my USB
devices on both my main PC and IBM R51 laptop.
Until I found this thread I couldn't figure out what was going on but I
unmodprobing ehci_hcd restored things to how they functioned in Edgy.

consists of two files: a .sub and an .idx file. A rip made with dvd-rip

Ok, so I have been debugging this and I have more to add
With the latest current kernel (2.6.20.14) under normal boot up, this
happens. So I tried starting it up in rescue mode and played around
with some of the services to see which one was the culprit. The 2
services (start up scripts) tha

After the installation the system boots and prompt me to input user and
password.
But, during the whole installation process, I've never been prompted to
create a new user and set the password.

I used the "reinstall" option from the Synaptic Package Manager and
restarted the system. The error has not reappeared. Hope this helps.

I have done each of the three proposed remedies. None
work. Still no microphone (but the microphone did work
until the recent) infamous update.
Before doing suggestion "C" I got static when I tried
to record. But after completing suggestion "C" I get
nothing - only silence.

The simplest solution is to add "cpqarray" to the
/etc/mkinitramfs/modules file.
I.e.
# cat /etc/mkinitramfs/modules

I am having the same issue. In order for the icon to change to
connected, I click on a valid connection so the icon sets properly. I am
on a wired connection.

Sorry i am running a tad behind on email, working on getting a new
job...
FYI I am now on Kernel image 2.6.20-14-generic (I have been letting it
download new kernel images but so far none have booted except for 12)
