Thanks for your answer. Normally I don't quit my apps with SIGKILL, but in
this case appear that beagle isn't exiting cleanly. When I sent SIGTERM to

That leaves the vesa-driver problem. You didn't say how it doesn't
work.. Try with Feisty Herd5, and run 'sudo xresprobe vesa' in the
terminal and post the results. Also, attach /var/log/casper.log,
Xorg.0.log and the resulting xorg.conf.

I've got the same issues on an HP/Compaq nc6220 so this issue is looking
like it affects a lot of HP laptop models.

I wanted to add that although "pci=nomsi" does work, the average new
user will not know this and assume that Ubuntu is broken.
Also, if a SD card is in the built-in slot, the user will not connect
the two and assume Ubuntu is broken when it locks up during every live
CD boot and/or install.

"pci=nomsi" does work as I have the same notebook, but if you have a SD
card in the built-in slot, Ubuntu will boot the live CD without a CPU
fault and Ubuntu will NOT install. It will error out while trying to
boot the live CD. It will never boot completely with a SD card in the
built-in slot.

The problem is that there is no trident driver for my XGI Volari V3
video card for use with Xorg. There is one from the XGI site that is an
.RPM which I converted into a .deb but then didn't know how to try and

The script to start the IRC server blocks.
I changed the script to use the log_begin/end_msg functions and to make
use of the --background.
Also, somehow, it does not create the .pid file. That I think is because
we start the server with user:
There is my file as an attachment.
Note that I don't have a patch because I did not keep the original. You
can create the patch yourself and then apply it 8-)
