I have experienced this also, on two different machines with recent
installs on trying to launch gnome-session or xfce4-session
an older machine that hasn't been updated in a while runs just fine.
I found that switching from vnc4server back to tightvncserver ("fixes"
isn't the right word) removes
I had the same problem today (usb keyboard not recognized during boot)
with 6.10. The keyboard is fine once everything boots up, but I have to
wait for the boot selector to time out.

On further thought, I have reversed upstream SVN commits 604 and 601
(interestingly marillat's at 604, which also failed to produce a PPC
binary).
This should fix the PPC FTBFS for good. Since the altivec optimizations
in those revisions don't compile in ppc linux anyway, it's better to
have a bin

Yep, I'm using Feisty Herd 2, just installed 2 days ago, all the updates
(with the exception of the Beryl ones that keep breaking and refusing to
install each other based on wanting Python 2.4) are installed.
I get no output when I try to run it from the CLI. The cursor in the
terminal just keeps

I have determined it all boils down to the permissions that the Samsung
installer apparently sets on xsane - it sets the SUID to root,
apparently because the smfp module it adds to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf
requires root permissions to load. However, if you do not have a
Samsung multifunction printer (

Many people are experiencing this and it should, IMHO, be bumped up from
Low to High priority. It's a real pain.
