I can confirm this bug on an intel i945 chipset, remaking a kernel image
is a lot of trouble. The it821x module is also only present on the
Desktop CD, not the Alternate, so RAID/LVM installs on systems with this
ide controller are very difficult.

I was able to obtain an IP address for my wireless card (using stock
rt2500 driver in the latest kernel) by adding
wireless-essid rtswireless
wireless-key
to /etc/network/interfaces
All previous attempts were using the ASCII key.
So, the bugs are now:

old cvs tarball that I had used successfully under Breezy, compiled and

I am not a GTK programmer but my guess is the cause of the bug is the
size of the icon used for the "Save Theme..." button. It appears smaller
so the button fits to the size of the icon... I don't know if this is
true but my guess from observing the dialog.

The patch applies cleanly with the changes, but won't compile, since
mutex_lock and mutex_unlock aren't defined. After some cursory research,
it appears that the functions are called down and up in 2.6.15. Is this
correct? I am trying to compile the kernel with the names changed to up

Some more info. Scanning works just fine using xsane (in Dapper).
Also, I tried disconnecting the usb printer and rebooting, but the same
problem with python+sane occured. The problem occurs using both the 386
and 686 kernels.

With Device URI: hp:/no_device_found it will never work. Do it like
this:
sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys stop
sudo gedit /etc/cups/printers.conf
reaplce that DeviceURI line
sudo /etc/init.d/cupsys start
CUPS will not replace that file with some other file. So, doing 'sudo
cat /etc/cups/printers.conf' sh

the old software-properties dialog in breezy had options like:
* automatically delete temp packages ina intervall of X days
* limit the size of temp packages
* limit the age of temp packages
update-manager's software-properties do not have

In the CUPS printers page it still shows:

and
samsung_ml1740 "open device failed; will retry in 30 seconds..."
And lpinfo -v:

Printing a test page didn't work either. I did go ahead and install

I am using the Kubuntu 6.06 CD as a Live CD.
The Wireless card is a PCMCIA SMC2632W, Version 01.02
wlassistant is run from the K-menu, finds wireless networks. I choose my own
net and set the WEP key. But the key is not used (iwconfig eth1
but it doesnt realy stop randomly. It stops when i click on some thing
like closing a firefox-tab or entering an address and pressing enter
etc.

/some/ conffile in your 'alsa-base' package holds a reference to it. Is
this install a dist-upgrade from Hoary or Breezy?
