[Ubuntu-BD] trouble while installing ubuntu

I am facing some trouble installing ubuntu on my PC. I tried with different CDs. When the partition manager starts (about 40%) while installing ubuntu. The HDD starts a sound until(I waitted for 5 mins) I restart. But Windows XP is running good. What could be the solution? Please don't suggestion
