When I open a deb file with gdebi, all loads fine. When I click on
install, it will ask for authentication as normal, but it will not
actually install anything after. It flashes something I Cannot see/read,

With only one user, if I logout, X hangs -- can't even get a console
with ctrl-alt-f3.
Also, if I need to restart X with ctrl-alt-backspace, it hangs.
I am able to ssh into the machine and restart gdm3, and that allows me
to log back in.
I added another user to see if I had a problem with a conf

I am running Ubuntu Zesty 17.04 and have this flickering issue. The
above fix of changing the theme does nothing to correct the issue. I was
using 16.10 prior and did not have this problem. Only after the upgrade
did this start to happen. Is there any update on a possible fix for
this?
