Christopher, your request for clarification above makes no sense. I never said I couldn't boot with 15.10. I have 15.10 with fglrx installed, and everything is fine. What I'm complaining about is that I want to be on 16.04, but amdgpu drivers don't work with my Carrizo graphics card. I either have to set the kernel parameters to "nomodeset" which means my display is in low graphics mode, or I get the black screen.
