Hi Isreal,
2 Log files attached; I didn't find the nice-start.log where you mentioned so I
assumed you meant (?) the firstrun.log file from the same location.
Cheers,
JackT.

On the installed system I'm not seeing panel items for battery, eth0, or
volume...these are visible on the Live session.

Hi Israel,
New .iso installed in VB...
Great news -- indeed now you did fix the disappearing desktop icons/shortcuts,
well done.
Can you explain briefly what the problem was that eluded us for so long?
Thanks,
JackT.

Hi Israel,
I didn't try to detect or check this in the Live session. I found it in the
Installed session. The /etc/hosts file looks the same in Live and Installed.

Hi Israel,
Installed new .iso in VB.
1) typing 'sudo' causes message "sudo: unable to resolve host torios"
2) seems to be caused (maybe?) by entry in /etc/hosts file "127.0.1.1
israeldahl-ThinkPad-E560"

Hi Israel,
I cannot for the life of me create a desktop shortcut and have it show up.
I've tried several times now. I think me and desktop shortcuts are jinxed.

Hi Nio,
I downloaded the .vdi.xz file, ran md5sum with success, but using xzcat or xz
on the .vdi.xz file I'm getting "File format not recognised".
Any ideas?

Happy Thanksgiving by the way.
Can you explain/expand on your comment below where you said: "Trusty will have
