wirren,
Unless you can bribe one of the admins to give you a user account on the
linux box, you're out of luck. You would have to hack into the linux box
(sorry, out of my scope) and that's if the box hasn't been secured. If
secured, no way unless you can crack the admin password and get into
I was all set to install the new KDE2 and StarOffice. After getting
instructions here...(very clear, btw, thank you!) I followed them to
discover to my dismay the program to unpack (is that the right word) and
install rpms didn't get installed during initial setup of my SuSE 6.4.
So, I tried i

Are you talking Tech books or books in general? There are few tech books
that are current after 5 years or so and the field moves so fast it's hard
for the general public library to keep up. My suggestion? Any book you
would like in YOUR library, suggest it for the public library. That's what
Hi everyone,
My new job is so much fun! I'm the new Webmaster where I work and have
slowly learning my way around my new job. I know the server is a UNIX
system, but my husband assures me it's enough like Linux to be almost
twins, so I'm not so intimidated by it. What I'm asking is, does anyo
I just bought another HD and that's what houses my win product. The NT
want's to be "main boot HD" so I let it because LILO still asks which OS
you want to boot into. The default is Linux.
HDs aren't really expensive anymore so $150 did the trick for a 20GB
7200RPM speed.
Also, that way, when

No, just straight code doesn't affect the server nor does it cause errors.
If a page is poorly written it either won't display or in the case of the
proprietary thingies (strictly IE or Netscape) either one or the other
browser won't work. These cause browser errors, not server errors. If

Hey Subba,
Record them as either MP3s or .wavs. If you record them as .wavs, when you
record them to CD you can use them on any CD Player that plays music CDs.
MP3s will require a player program that can translate them Like MusicMatch,
which I understand has come out with a Linux version.

My husband stumbled across one on Fresh Meat a few weeks ago. I remember
talking with him about it. He didn't d/load it as we didn't need it, but
just go look around there and see if you can find it. The entire OS fits on
a floppy.

There is an NT version of Apache as well as MySQL and PHP. If your people
are absolutely married to MS you might look into installing and playing
with those. The SQL you have should port to MySQL (I read the man pages
recently and think that was one). If nothing else, you will learn how to

Hey all,
For a little background, I have one box with 2 hard drives. One drive is my
NT box and the other is my SuSE box. Last Sunday I upgraded my SuSE 7 to
7.1 and all the sudden, the 2nd partition of my NT drive is hidden! At
first I thought I had lost everything and would have to reinstall,
