Hi,
I've opened ports 21, 22, 23 and 80 in my firewall and forwarded them to
port 22 on an internal host. I all cases, ssh to the firewall from *inside*
the firewall gets forwarded to the ssh server and I get to connect but from

Hi everybody.
I've finally done it. I've removed my Windows NT4 server and replaced it
with a Linux server. Yay.
It currently handles all of my internet sharing and NAT, but I'm having
problems setting up Samba.
This machine will be acting as the server for a Workgroup at my home. The

There is a database of known laptop howtos and information about all sorts

database to find tips or problems.

We're currently using Amanda here and I've been pretty happy with that so
far. It lacks in a few features, but it really nicely manages the backup
scheme for you (dynamically creating the levels based on need), and it's
recovery procedures are also quite straightforward. It also uses a hol

I'm sorry I didn't make myself clear in my original post. I loaded

I read (I think in Linux Journal or something like that) that Tuxtops was
getting out of the laptops business? Their Web page even says that they've
given that segment of their business to someone else.

mass produced. I fi
Here's an interesting hardware question. My computer has this habit of
turning on by itself and turning off by itself, and I'm not sure why. I'm
using an Antec case, and thought there might be problems with the power
supply. Then again, it could be the motherboard ...
Another interesting thing i
A couple of things,
First, Do you want to be ssh'ing to the ftp port (21)?
Secondly, authorized_keys is used for allowing one machine to ssh into
another machine without using a password. You should still be able to

You aren't missing anything. The Promise (as well as most other IDE RAID
cards) are software based. The driver does all the real work, not the card.
They don't have chips on them to offload the RAID processing like a "real"
SCSI RAID card...so you end up using a lot of CPU time anyway. The only

Actually, the Cisco documentation is very unhelpful. I managed to figure out a
way to do it, though. I just set up IP Aliasing on the firewall. Then it all
works.
Not the *most* elegant way of going about it, but it works.
