Hmm, load it up in ghostview or gv (if you have a recent ghostscript),
select the pages and save them?
Just a guess, might even be wrong.

There are several different flavors of Linux

Yes. My first linux installation was a dual-boot using MkLinux. I was
not all that happy with MkLinux -- it had A TON of bugs, and didn't know a
lot of standard linux commands. Getti

I don't know if it does now, but like the rest of KDE, it will run on

I just "printed" the pages to a file in Acroread... don't know any
other way. With ps, there are some command line programs (ps2ps,
psmerge...) to do that, so maybe try converting the pdf to ps...?
The quality isn't as great, though.

This may be a dumb question -- but can I set up my Linux box to fetch mail from all my
POP mailboxes and hold it? Then can I use my Win98 box to read it when I get home?
And will the Windows email program still know which address it was sent to when I
answer it, so it will go out to the right

IBM has pretty decent support for the Thinkpad 600 and Red Hat.
But you won't buy one for under $3400. Check out some of the lesser vendors that
sell linux based servers: VA, Penguin They may have laptops.

You will need a pop3 based reader on Win98 (netscape browser will do)
and you will need fetchmail (I think that's what is it is called, and a script
to home in on the mail servers)

I have been running linux exclusively on laptops since 1994. It's not so bad.
Most of the time the problems center around sound, pcmcia, and as usual, the
XFREE Configuration file.
I have run on Toshiba (tecra, libretto) and Ibm Thinkpads (2 770's , and
a 755). None have given me any really

Thanks.
Gv can read my PS files OK, but not output individual PS pages that can
be converted to PDF (ps2pdf) and have the correct bounding boxes.
It cannot read my apparently oddly shaped PDF pages directly.
In both cases, things get cut off.
Oh well.

Seems I should be asking a different group.

EPS files also require a BoundingBox: statement at the beginning,
which generic Postscript doesn't require, I think. There might also be
