2. If not, do pieces exist that could be put together without writing the
whole thing from scratch? PHP would be my language of choice, but others
could be managed. This needs to be done faster then I can code with the
amount of time I have to devote
Something else that I've found helpful with speeding up connections is to
use ssh -C host.domain.com - -C uses compression

is, any of the BSD's, and anything else we come up with. What
are my best options, in anyone's opinions? I'm planning to use an Abit KT7A
motherboard, and want to use a Plextor burner on this as well as a
harddrive...
Thanks!

This is 4.7 on Debian (Corel Linux actually).

hiya,
A while ago some very helpful types on this list gave me some clues that
resulted in fixing the sound problems I had with my Linux machine at
home. I am a newbie, I guess, but I have learnt heaps about Linux, and
in particular modules, and dependencies thru that exercise.
Now I have a rea
sted to hear how you go, if you get time to let me
know!
I have to buy a new machine first as the upgrade in speed will be
meaningless with the processor I have at present - a P133. I'm going to
wait until after GST has settled down a bit before I buy a new box,
probably August, and then l
o is get the sodding modules
to go!

The symlink thing that someone suggested seems to fix it!! Thanks
people! I'm not sure what is going on still - so maybe I'll try to
install gpm as I don't seem to have it at present.

I checked /dev and it seems there is no "mouse" file/device in there
when this happens. The plot thickens - no-one leave the room!
I am wading thru the how-to's but nothing seems to address this, or if
it does I am just not seeing it.

Corel's version (at least) of the KDE desktop has this facility.
