Run, don't walk, to your nearest bookstore and get "DNS & BIND" by Cricket
Liu et al, or SAM's "Teach Yourself DNS/BIND in 24 Hours". The second book
is less intense and geared more towards someone who hasn't learned
anything about DNS yet. Every domain owner should at least borrow one of

I have tested it. It's... okay. It does everything you need, and leaves
the zonefiles in ascii which is good if webmin dies and you ever need to
edit them manually. It's a little on the arcane side if you are not
familiar with DNS terminology... but if you don't know at least the basic
terminology
Does AOL demand to use a custom dialer, or does it use Windows' Dial-Up
Networking?
If it uses dial-up networking, you should be able to make your
connection through Linux. This might, however, bar you from certain
aspects of their service that you may need their custom software for.
If it uses

I have the versions of KDE and X which came with the Slackware 7.0 CD. I have 7.1 on
order, but I need to fix this problem now. I recently upgraded to Netscape 4.73 and
have found that when I am typing in a URL, I cannot backspace or delete. Hitting these
keys causes an additional space to app
nsswitch.conf seems to be mostly used for NIS situations from what I have
found. It is a slightly different critter then host.conf. You will
probably have to ask someone else for more details on that as I do not run
NIS.

You can do this on all Unices and Linux distros. Whether your host table or dns is
looked at for resolution is specified in /etc/host.conf. It could be one, or the
other, or both in various orders.
Example: order hosts, bind
This will look to your hosts file first, then to DNS.

I, personally, amd leery of RPMs because
The only thing I can see wrong is that you neglected to tell the
nameserver which sort of network this record is a part of. The only one
that really matters these days is IN, which stands for Internet, which is
appropriate in this case. Your record should look like this:
www IN A 1
Whether or not you need to contact a registrar (It's not just the Internic
any more) to register your Linux DNS server as a nameserver or not depends
on whether you will actually be hosting any domain names or not.
If you are just setting up to be a caching nameserver, this is not
necessary. Cach
Okay, the EOF comes from these statements:

This means print all text from the print statement until the text matchs

If you are seeing EOF in the html, you need to be sure that the print
statement is in place referencing the EOF. If it is, run the scrip
Unfortunately, that's not necessarily the only factor considered in the
corporate world. I would that it was... There is still the 'learn new
software' factor, the 'convert data from old software' factor, and the
'how to we explain up the ladder that we wasted all these resources on M$'
factor.
A lot of places pressure one to use Outlook/MS Office because of the
calendaring features. While StarOffice has this too, it's pretty
difficult to convince the Execs to convert after they spent all this money
on licensing, installation, maintenance, personnel, updates...
Not to mention they'd hav

There are other solutions than internal cards, also. I use a 3Com ImpactIQ
external ISDN adapter, and it is no more difficult then adding in a bit to
the INIT string to bond and use both channels. It connects to the machine
physically though the serial port.

I was wondering if anyone could tell me how to email a webcam snapshot via
a crontab entry. I have the entry done and it works, but 'mail

So... after searching the web and auctions in vain, and ransacking the
local second-hand stores, I finally come up with a CVideo-Mail Express
Parallel webcam. Great... this is supported under the cpia driver.
The driver installs, and loads just fun. No problems there.
