Well, as usual, I've got problems. Machine B (the no modem, not working
ethernet, Mandrake 6.1 running, S3 ViRGE and Cyrix based system) is
pulling more stupid X tricks. Remember how it stopped letting my
personal account access the CDROM drive? Well, it also gradually cut off
my access to WindowM
Remember my machine A and machine B problems of a couple weeks ago? I've
got more *g*. Lots more. I'm sleepy, and there are a lot of problems so
if something seems confused, ask. If nothing else, looking at the
problems again with an eye to providing useful details would help me
learn what to look

DVD video support is in the 2.3 kernels. See http://www.linux.org.uk/diary/
or http://roadrunner.swansea.linux.org.uk/~hobbit/diary.html for first
hand details . If you want stable support, wait for the
2.4 kernels. Since I am a broke college student, the whole point is moot
for me...

Ideally yes, cause XFree86 is rather out of date with respect to at
least one of the video cards, and probably both. And Machine B is the
one
Ok, this is a case of "I know what I want to do, so what is the best way
to do it?". I'm up to two machines that run linux at least some of the
time. Neither can do 'net access under Linux at the moment, but one can
do it under Win95. I have a nice long list of things that need to be
updated, and

Here's some nice hard data on the other big error.
If the install manages to get to the point where you select the type of
system and the packages you want, a nice little error comes up. Error

I have a nice little TurboLinux 4.0 CD, so I'm attempting to put it on
my machine. I'm using a floppy with the boot image and the extra
hardware floppy, as my machine refuses to boot from CD-ROM.
