You would be better off with 2.0.1. It's got some bug fixes in it, as well as
better localization/globalization. There are generic tarballs on ftp.kde.org.
There are also RPMs for Mandrake,

The newest thing isn't always the greatest and bestest unfortunately. I
find KDE2 to be significantly slower than KDE1.x, and little things bug
me about it like not being able to rearrange the
Well, I'd like to have KDE2, because I always love the greatest newest
bestest thing :)
So to install KDE2, I put deb ftp://kde.tdyc.com/pub/kde potato main
crypto optional qt1apps in my sources.list and then do apt-get install
task-kde ? Then I should install the packages manually that it can't

This might be useful in the future, although you already have a solution.
There is this very cool utility called 'ren' that will do renaming of multiple files
(I understand you want to rename them and not delete them).
Suppose you have file[1].txt and file[2].txt, if you type
ren 'file[*].txt'
KDE2 is in the woody build of Debianso... You'll have to update to
that, but I'm not sure what it takes to move from Corel to a "standard"
build of Debian. I'd say check www.kde.org and see if they offer packages
for Corel.

Actually, not a dumb question. I just did this myself...and it was a
hassle.
I started downloading everything that I thought I would need..and then
ended up downloading like 10 more packages to get all the required
libraries, and the libs that they requiredand it just sorta daisy
chained. a
Ok, dumb question :)
I'm on Corel, which I know is a Debian based distro, but how the hell do
I upgrade to KDE2?
I tried apt-get install task-kde, but I get a ton of errors that it
couldn't find certain packages. And when I look at the packages to
build from source, I have no clue what to do
I'm using KMail as well..and am pretty happy with it. Make sure that
you're using KDE2 to get the latest greatest kmail client. I am not sure
if kmail with KDE1 supported multiple clients or not, but the newer kmail
has many more cool widgets, and I like that i can stack my folder level
now too

Kmail allows you to add multiple POP3 or local mail accounts. Have you
tried using that since you're using KDE? Also, the KDE Biff utility
(called kbiff) can be set up to check Kmail accounts...

What is a good email client for Linux (KDE in Corel)?
I need one that is basically MS Outlook Express. I haven't been able to
find one that lets me have mutliple accounts with unique pop and smtp
servers. Also, Mozilla (M18 .deb) won't check every single email
account that I have, I have to

Doh! Quoting the find expression works. Thanks!

I did check this out *BLUSH* but somehow missed the part in big letters that
says "YOU CAN'T DO THIS". ;) That's what I get for trying to troubleshoot
on too many work hours and too few sleep hours.
Thanks Marisa!
