Hi,
I run my DHCPD with LRP 2.9.4 a striped down version of Debian/
GNU-Linux 2.1 with Kernel 2.0.36. The server boots from a floppy
and works in a ramdisk.
I do not know, how many IP's you server, but I use a full C-Class
(252 Computers) and it works on a 486dx40 with 16 MBytes of Ram.

Unfortunately, that's not necessarily the only factor considered in the
corporate world. I would that it was... There is still the 'learn new
software' factor, the 'convert data from old software' factor, and the
'how to we explain up the ladder that we wasted all these resources on M$'
factor.

A lot of places pressure one to use Outlook/MS Office because of the
calendaring features. While StarOffice has this too, it's pretty
difficult to convince the Execs to convert after they spent all this money
on licensing, installation, maintenance, personnel, updates...
Not to mention they'd hav

Actually, anything with a MAPI client could send on that virus, so Eudora
was not immune. What it would not do is forward it on to your whole addr
Hey Marie,
Your right about that, I guess that I'm kinda thinking of the senario
where everyone shuts down their computer at the end of the day, thus
losing their IP, and so every day each MAC addr recievies a new IP. That
seems like alot of info to keep building up. What do you think?

The huge company i work for was unaffected by the virus - thanx to our "No
Outlook" policy. We use Eudora :)

Hey All,
I am trying to get opinions on using static ip's as opposed to dhcp. I
work in a relatively small office and was thinking that if everyone had a
static IP then I could use arp to map the MAC to the IP and have a better
understanding of who was doing what on the network. Also I could dis

Does Emacs support Imap these days? If so, consider me converted...

Hi, grrls ;-)
I have a really _basic_ and lame question!
I need to lauch two programs, and they need
to behave like this;
* start program 1
* start program 2
* use program 2
* exit program 2 manually
* program 1 should exit automatically
Now, I know there is a way of doing this (i'm using bas

I'm planning to go for cable modem access later this year. What I've
heard is that Optus' "@ home" service (which runs on the same cable as
their phone system) is compatible with Linux, but Telstra's "Advance"
isn't - at least not without a lot of very time consuming friggin about.
