As mentioned in a previous message, yes I have done this multiple
times. I also tried removing the battery for several minutes...no
luck.
The problem persists today, and in fact encompasses all folders under
the messaging menu. Any advice would be much appreciated.

Have you tried shutting your phone off and back on again? Sometimes
the memory gets full and nothing happens. Rebooting the phone clears things up.
