Hi,
Toerisme Vlaanderen wants to share its databases with us. There are
accomodations like hotels, but also many others. I'm going to start by
treating the hotels.
Here are 2 examples, which I entered from a combination of their
information, bing, personal knowledge and contacting them by phone:

OpenStreetMap is *not* a hotel database.
Ope
Deep breath being taken.
As far as keeping it up to date, I'm setting up a process for that. This is
one of their requirements for providing the data. They want to improve what
is available in OSM and they want the information that is being distributed
by us or by other providers (like Google) to

if there are stable URLs that point to data on the hotels, it's perfectly
reasonable to just make the external reference. this has the advantage that
it doesn't create an update problem over the long run; it's up to them to
maintain their data, not us to try to keep up.

I'm also in favour of a link to a database. I believe a deep link to the
toerisme vlaanderen site will do.
It's up to the data users to get the information from the other database. I
don't think that's too difficult when the database is consistent.
It looks possible to me in any case to get the ne
1) stars=4 What system does this refer to? Is this according to
Hotelstars Union? If I see this right, Belgium isn't part of this
union.
I think the stars notion should be removed from OSM. It's either
confused, or some particular rating body's opinion, and neither of those
seem appropria

I'd use a polygon (amenity=hotel,
Is there a way to tag a bus pullout that may or may not currently be
served by buses? Here's an example of what I mean: http://g.co/maps/9abbu

You mean that spot where the bus can get out of the way of the other
traffic to load/unload passengers?
We have many of them here. I don't tend to tag the specifically, they look
a bit like a rather short extra lane...
