Hello,
I've done some tests with my scanner (Hewlett-Packard ScanJet 2300c)
and xsane or xscanimage.
I found xsane more user-friendly, but now I note that with some
images, results from xsane are not usable, while xscanimage can
handle such tricky cases.
Particularly, I can'nt get soft-toned im

I am trying to use my HP ScanJet 2300c with Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.
I get

Thanks,
it is in CVS by now, with reduction of scanarea to 295 mm height.

Hello,
after searching the debug data, I think there is no problem in start
position
detection (which is correclty reported to be 'top = 65'). In fact it seems
that it is the value added to the detected y position is bogus. Currently, we
add -2.0 mm which may lead in a negative
Thanks,
I've dowloaded what I need. You can get rid of it. From a first glance
the
search_position.pnm seems "too white". I'd expect that the dark area darker.
I'll let you know what I find.

Stef

ok, I'm using the daily cvs snapshot now, and even the command
scanimage --mode Color -y 20 >

Thanks for your advice - I used http://www.sane-project.org/htdig/ to
search for 2300c, and the newest result was this post:
http://lists.alioth.debian.org/
there have been discussions about this problem here on the list in the
past 2 days. try looking at the archives for a possible solution.

Hi,
I'm trying to get my HP scanjet 2300c working under gentoo linux. I
tried sane-backends 1.0.16 and sane-backends 1.0.17, but it does not work.
According to http://www.sane-project.org/sane-backends.html#S-GENESYS,
this scanner should be supported.
When I try to scan an image, it starts scann

Hello,
I have just commited a one-liner fix for MD6471 hangs. I expect it
to improves the HP2300C behaviour. Can you check that with the version
previous thix fix that 2 subsequent scanimage hangs, by going in
sane-backends/backend and doing:
export SANE_DEBUG_GENESYS=255
export S

Hi,
first I want to say big thanks to all the guys involved in the genesys
backend. I was nearly ready to sell the scanner and buy another one. Normally
I have a close look at what hardware I buy in oder to get linux compatible
hardware. This time I thought "well, it's a HP, it will
work".
I have managed to record the traffic from the Scanjet 2300C to my computer when
scanning, however, I can't make heads or tails of the log file. :( Does anyone
know how to read the log file from USB-sniff?

I've red that two person have begun to work at the driver for hp

very glad to develop the driver but I have no experience at all
developing for Linux so i'd really appreciate if someone could just
please spend some time explaing me how to setup a development
environment and i'll give my best to
