Hello Johannes,
Thank you!
Unfortunately the other two 'USB 2' ports are only internal.
I think I will wait for next release of sane, to see if the new
release addresses this problem.
I plan to get back to this thread, if the new release does not fix the issue.
Kind regards,
Xianwen

Hello Michael,
Thank you. It's not a MFP, it's a scanner without any other function.

There was a peculiar *cups* setup required for HP MFPs:

Hello Roger,
Thank you. I've just tried by adding hpaio in /etc/sane-d/dll.conf. It
did not avail.
However, I shall note that this scanner is supposed having the backend
of avision. And avision is listed on /etc/sane-d/dll.conf.
Can someone provide a tip to troubleshoot the scanner?
Kind regard
I do not have this exact HP product, but from my experience, HP products tend
to require the HPLIP package. More specifically, the device may require the
propreitary binary scanner driver. Usually, HP printers prefer to use CUPS
postscript drives. (I tend to prefer the PCL driver, as PCL is m
Hello,
I need help on getting HP Scanjet 7400c to work under Arch Linux. The
scanner has been tested under Windows 7 and works well with VueScan.
The version of sane installed is 1.0.25. The kernel version is 4.5.1.
The system is AMD64 (or x86_64).

Hello all. I'm trying to use a HP Scanjet 7400C via USB and am
having problems.
1) Nasty-sounding shoe-shining during scans. Happens even at
resolutions/depths that you would think a USB 2 port can take (300
DPI colour, around 2.5 MB/s if I not mistaken).
2) Every few scans, the scanner will free

Hello,
on the SANE homepage, I saw that the HP ScanJet 7400c is supported by
the avision backend *in build 201* (or above, I assume).
Now, how do I find out which build I have?
I still haven't resolved the issue, the scanner is basically unusable
on the machine since it is unpredictable when

Thanks for your thoughts. In my case, the scanner is connected
directly, not using a hub.

Hi all,
I'm trying to get a HP ScanJet 7400c to work on a Mac OS X platform
using SANE as provided by Matthias Ellert's TWAIN-SANE packages, and
I'm having some problems.
Do others also have problems with this particular scanner (not
necessarily on Mac OS X), or does it usually work fine?
Hi.
