I noticed now that the carriage isn't returned properly,
stops about 1/3 in the return. It's being returned
properly first when a next scan happens. What gives?

Hi,
Ever since installing sane-backends-1.0.18.tar.gz my Epson
Perfection 3490 always warms up with each an every scan, no
matter how promptly I am doing the scans, one after the other.
Any ideas?

I am quite sure this must be a FAQ but I can't find the answer to it

I recently switched to Ubuntu Linux, running Breezey 5.10. I purchased
an Epson Perfection 3490 since the various SANE pages I visited
indicated a pretty high level of support for Epson scanners in general.
But I

Hello.
I'd like to get advice on the EPSON Perfection 3490.
Features (from the vendor):
48 bits
3200 dpi,
CCD
transparency adapter
USB 2.0
Does someone know whether it is supported?
And which backend it uses, as that the likewise named scanners are split
between "epson" and "SnapScan"

Hi!
Good news for all you with an Epson Perfection 3490 USB scanner.
Here is a bugfix to get the 'Epson Perfection 3490' scanner working.
It now makes perfect color *.pnm scans, at full A4 size.
The details: I've been looking over some usbmon dumps and scanimage
debug logs, and the Perfection 34
Dear Friends,
Ok, running Linux 2.6.12-rc2, libusb-0.1.10a.
I just bought an Epson Perfection 3490.
Obtained esfw52.bin from installing it on an M$ PC (where the
scanner works like a charm, I must admit).
Then hooked it up to my Linux box, installed said firmware file
and installed sane-backend

Yes and no. The backend will download the firmware to the scanner
automatically (as does the windows driver). See

Hi,
the code is in CVS now. Please try it and let me know if it works for
you.
I currently don't have any information on the firmware filename.
Usually there is only one supplied with the windows driver. Look for
any *.bin file in the twain32 directory.
