I sent this info to Abel, who kindly asked if I had compiled my kernel
for the updated package; I didn't know about this so will re-compile
before using Sane.

errors. Do I need to have scsi in the make, if I don't get a scsi
scanner? Would it be too complicated to remove the scsi stuff in that
case?
