System: RH6.1, 2.2.19, GNU Make version 3.77. I got the following, trying to make 1.07:

May work with the sane-mustek backend" I may also end up getting a HP scanner from the known-supported list; so I would like to find out how to correct whatever is causing the errors. Do I need to have scsi in the make, if I don't get a scsi scanner? Would it be too complicated to remove the scsi stuff in that case?
